The Hardraw Force Dining Table

Hardraw Force in the Yorkshire Dales is England’s highest single drop waterfall, reflected in the slim line flow of the pedestal legs of this Dining Table. It’s swirling, cool plunge pool stained dark by peat from the surrounding moorlands is captured in a Walnut Burr veneered Lazy Susan providing a striking contrast to the oak top in the Hardraw Force Dining Table.

The brief was to design and make a contemporary, sleek dining table for an open plan, modern kitchen diner.

Taking inspiration from the landscape encapsulating my rural workshop I aimed to seize the flowing natural lines from my surroundings within the table.

The extended chamfer moulding on the underside of the elliptical top creates the slimline elegance of the piece, enhancing this overall look is the minimalist but strong framework which mirrors the transparency of the falling water.

The client requested an integrated Lazy Susan, scale and proportion was vitally important to ensure it housed seamlessly within the oak table top.  The turn table naturally makes itself a focal point in the room for people to come together.
